Athletic Hall of Fame Inducts New Members

Cory Becher was a four-year letter winner in football, basketball and track for a total of 12 letters. He was the quarterback on the football team and holds a record for Most Pass Completions for a Career with 417, 2005-2008. Cory helped lead the team to two appearances in the OHSAA football playoffs. He also is on the record board in basketball with Leading Career Scorers with 725 points for the years 2006-2009. In track, Cory was involved in many relays that went to the state meet. He is number three on the all-time top five performers for boys in the 4 x 200 meter relay.

Tim Dennison was a teacher, athletic director and coach at Granville. He started coaching when he was hired in 1974 with both the boys’ and girls’ teams. He continued to coach both teams until 1983 when he took time off to be with his family, then returned in 1985 and coached one or both teams until 2005. Tim taught fifth grade in Granville from 1974 until 2005. He became Activities Director at Granville High School in 2001 and continued to coach until 2005. Tim played tennis in high school at John H. Lehman High School and was a four-year letter winner in tennis. He attended Northwestern University in Illinois and made the tennis team his freshman year.

Brad Holland was a 1976 graduate of Granville High School. He participated in football and wrestling earning six varsity letters. He lettered in football his junior and senior years, playing middle guard. Brad was selected to the LCL All-County Team along with second team All-Regional honors. Wrestling was Brad’s strongest sport and he lettered all four years. His varsity record was 52-21-1. He was the first wrestler in Granville history to compete in OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament during his senior year at the 185-pound weight class. He wrestled in both the 175 and 185 weight classes and went 24-4 for the year. He was voted MVP by the team and went 50-12-1 his last three seasons while being coached by Jim Shriner (HOF 2003). Brad won the Bishop Ready, Utica, Granville and LCL Tournaments at 175 pounds. He wrestled at 185 pounds for the sectionals and districts and was runner up in both.
