GMS Weekly Newsletter

New Announcements

Greetings, GMS Families -
We have a very informative student presentation happening this THURSDAY (4/25). The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit - Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force will speak with GMS students about cell phone safety, internet safety, and social media safety. The assembly will start after we take attendance. GHS is on a modified schedule for testing, so this works well. Both buildings will follow the same bell schedule. After the assembly, students will report to ACE period. Due to state testing, we have missed several ACE periods. I feel certain students will want ACE time this Thursday.
On another note, we do, in fact, have school tomorrow/Monday (4/22). There have been some questions lately.
Here's to a strong 4th quarter, and as always, we welcome your questions, concerns, and positive thoughts.

Respectfully,
Lisa Ormond
Principal, GMS

GHS SPRING MUSICAL
Granville High School’s Theater Department is excited to present MTI’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th at 7 pm. This comedic musical follows an eclectic group of spellers in the race for first place and a ticket to nationals. There is outrage over easy words, and ridiculous example sentences for each of the words. Spellers have to work through the pressures placed upon them by their families. They work through the challenges of adolescence with silly, light-hearted songs. There are candid and touching songs that enhance this exciting musical about what seems to be a boring event: a spelling bee. Over 80 GHS students are involved in the production!
The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
Please note that this show is rated PG due to adult themes. Come to Granville High School for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! Tickets are $10 each and are general admission. Find tickets at showtix4u.com.

Hello Families,

C-TEC is promoting a "Jill of All Trades" summer event for any young women who will be entering grades 9-12 next year. The purpose of this event is to "introduce young women in grades 9 through 12 to the possibilities of a career in the skilled trades." I have received over 50 applications for upcoming 8th graders to volunteer as orientation leaders in August...so awesome! I will be sending more information to those parents soon. I will host an information/training session for orientation leaders during ACE on Friday, May 10.

If you have a daughter in 8th grade ROX, we will be having a combined group session for our guest speaker next week on May 3rd. We will be hearing from Alyssa Baker, one of the GHS ROX facilitators and GEVSD technology specialists about her career as a woman in tech. We will have our self-defense day all together on the afternoon of May 6th!
